Growing up I new I would always love music but that was before I learnt the acoustic guitar. Since then I have always felt that musicians with a guitar are very soulful and emotionally in tune with their inner beings because the instrument leans itself towards creating melodies that come straight from the soul and nowhere else. An instrument is arguably the best form of musical expression but naturally I gravitated towards every acoustic guitar song as I have always felt it brings out more character in a person and consequently that of a musician, writer or singer.
Berita Afrosoul is not a fan of the public life of a music star, she reminds me of the humility of the late Oliver Mtukudzi, who too was a true acoustic guitar maestro, writer and singer preferring a private and normal life as opposed to the chaos of being popular.
She is exemplary in her award winning music productions, music productions and businesses ranging from women empowerment projects to the South Africa Recording Industry (RISA) board membership that she has just recently assumed. Berita believes she has just so much to offer other than good music and looks and would love to see Fair Pay, Fair Play and a Fair Share for women in the music industry.
I find it easy to talk about good music when you are listening to it. Superlatives to describe it naturally just flow and it is the only time where I prefer to speak than write. In this case though, i still have to tell you about the recently married Ms Baloi's new single "Ungandibulali" on which she features the Ndlovu Youth Choir which is a cry to the perpetrators of domestic violence around the world. The track is lifted off her forthcoming EP and sets the tone on what we should expect from Berita Afrosoul.
