|Episode 25|"Bvudzijena is a true story, a phase in my life" Tamy Moyo on her new project.

Updated: Aug 30, 2021

I have always been a softie for a good voice and song and so the first time I heard Beautiful Ndozvandiri from Tamy Moyo (albeit late to the party) I knew there was something extraordinary about her music. I try, within the lyrics, voice and overall production of any project I listen to, to pick the mind of the creative. In most cases I am in awe trying to deduce choice of words, placement and being able to communicate easily and precisely. Ms Moyo has done that in the many instances with her music and I can only imagine a plethora of great music that she will showcase in her career. She is a woman pregnant and ripe with talent and I had to sit down with her while she endured her quarantine in a luxurious hotel in England and talk about music, its business and life.

A lot can be expected of an artist today and many things an artist can accomplish but one thing for sure, there can never be a safe place for one to hide away from the ever changing and challenging world online. It is such a beautiful and yet very complex and at times ugly world that we live and survive in. This ambivalence with the online world we are yet to cure, we can but only device temporary measures to cure it and hope it works to our advantage more than it can for evil.Tamy seems to find deleting and blocking as the best tool to keep her sanity from it all but in many instances she disengages.

Over the past years we have seen her grow in leaps and her duo management of mom and dad and they are the reason for her sturdy rise to who she has become today. She is sure her dad's support and fandom is far beyond amazing and her mom's call to prayer is key to her calmness during tough and trying times such as the pandemic which saw her take a longer break than desired from performing. This has been the perfect formula for her "rise to stardom" and it certainly feels like we haven't seen the best of her yet.

My chat with her on my latest podcast episode was to touch base on her ZIMOCO deal, Tamy Moyo Music, Gonarezhou film project and her forthcoming Bvudzijena project which will arrive in August 2021.
